Community Partners

Communities offer a wide range of resources that are valuable to schools and the families they serve. These resources include people who volunteer their time in the school, organizations that offer enrichment opportunities, businesses that offer career-related information and workplace experiences, and agencies that provide various social services for students and families.

Schools that are committed to developing students’ critical thinking skills and real-world applications of knowledge as well as providing necessary services and enrichment activities need to forge new relationships with the community to improve student learning.

As a state-funded school WSD relies on the generosity of its friends and supporters to assist us in providing a quality learning and living environment for our students.

So in one year [Jonathan] has made amazing progress. I think that just how much ASL is going on in the classroom has really made all the difference. So he is exposed to it all day.

Every deaf child can learn just the same as hearing children can. I think that one problem is that often there are misconceptions about deaf children’s abilities.
