Audiology Services

Every student enrolled at WSD receives Audiology support services as needed. WSD has a fully functioning clinic complete with pediatric test suite located on campus. Students can visit the on-campus Audiologist during school hours by appointment or walk-in and are provided with direct access to information in their preferred mode of communication.

On-Campus Services for WSD Students Includes:

Comprehensive diagnostic evaluations
Audiological counseling (for students and their families)
Hearing-aid programming and verification
Loaner hearing aids
Earmold fabrication and modification
Hearing aid, cochlear implant and assistive listening technology troubleshooting and repairs
IEP/IFSP/504 monitoring and support services
Transition support for students entering/exiting K-12 system or taking mainstream courses
Cerumen removal
Collaboration with outside school districts, hospitals/clinics and other related professionals

I can tell he just feels like a whole new world has been open to him in how to communicate with his hands and he has already made soooooo much progress….I’ve always felt like I had to micromanage everything for him and like nobody else understood what he needed and it’s just so nice now to just know he is in good hands and around people who understand him in a way even I don’t and we are all just amazed at how much even a month has affected him. Every deaf child can learn just the same as hearing children can. I think that one problem is that often there are misconceptions about deaf children’s abilities.
