Hello WSD Families!
Welcome to the Washington School for the Deaf Parent-Staff Organization (PSO) page. The WSD PSO is the bridge between home and school, sharing a common goal of educating our children.
Vision Statement: As parent leaders our vision is to cultivate an inclusive group of members that empowers and supports the community of WSD.
Mission Statement: Our vision will be realized by creating connections and partnerships with the community and advocating for our school and students. Enrichment will be provided through fundraising and hosting events and appreciation projects for our staff and students.
How to be an active member of PSO:
- First, GET CONNECTED! Connect with us on this page or on Facebook! We post regular updates about events, volunteer needs, fundraising and more.
- Second, VOLUNTEER! If you are new to the school or have not done your background check, please contact Sharon Caton to learn more. All parents or guardians need to have a background check completed before they are allowed to volunteer with the school. You will be added to our volunteer base and will receive emails for volunteer opportunities.
- Finally, BE INVOLVED! We hold meetings once a month where we discuss upcoming events and other WSD related things. These meetings are held on Zoom for those who do not live nearby. Interpreters are also provided for those who are not native signers. For upcoming meeting dates, please visit our school calendar; www.wsd.wa.gov/about-wsd/school-calendar
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us! Join us for our general meetings or send an email. We look forward to hearing from you!
