Welcome!

My name is Gaylynne Coates, and this year I am teaching High School Life Skills – Bilingual Language Arts, Biology, Social Studies/Geography, Math, and Health.

A little about me:

● I grew up in Arizona and moved to Portland, OR after getting married. I now live in Camas, WA. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, exercising, running, biking, playing piano, scrapbooking, and painting with watercolors.

● Education: I hold a B.S. in Educational Psychology from Brigham Young University and an M.A. in Deaf Education from the University of Arizona, with a focus on

Bilingual-Bicultural Education. My teaching certifications include endorsements in Deaf Education (K–12), Special Education (K–12), and Elementary Education (K–8).

● Experience: I have taught at the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, Ellsworth Elementary School in the Evergreen District, and in schools across Vancouver, Camas, and Washougal. This is my 7th year teaching here at WSD.

I’m excited to begin another school year—especially in our beautiful new building! Please feel free to contact me at: gaylynne.coats@cdhl.wa.gov
