500 Books

Every year, in the Springtime, WSD elementary and middle school students participate in the ‘500 Books’ literary project. During ‘Kick-Off’, staff dress up as characters from books and students guess who the characters are, and receive free books! Our goal is to support students’ literacy development and encourage students to re-discover the joy and magic of reading. This year, our theme is Bananas for Reading!

Student progress and book reports will be posted in our building foyer & hallways. Come check them out as we count towards our goals of 500 books read by June 2^nd!! Let’s go Bananas!

Important Dates:

* March 3^rd: Kick Off See pictures

* March 7^th : First Report is due

* June 2^nd: 500 Books Celebration

• Each student needs to read and do book reports on at least 12 books by May 3
• Book Reports will be given out weekly.
• Book Reports are given out on Tuesdays, and are due the following on Tuesday
• Use AR books (follow student's level, going up)
• Students can write up to 3 book reports per week
