Transportation

WSD residential students live on campus during the week and go home on weekends. On Sunday, students arrive at WSD between 6:30-9:30PM. On Friday, students leave between 11:30AM-12:15PM. Students are transported by chartered bus, commercial airliner, local educational districts or WSD provided state vehicle. Transportation monitors supervise chartered buses. The staff/student ratio on the buses is approximately 1:10. Students who fly home on commercial airliners are supervised at the airport by transportation monitors. There are occasions, depending on the age of the students, when a transportation monitor will accompany students on their flights. Occasionally, a transportation monitor will drive students home in a WSD state vehicle. Transportation monitors are intermittent Student Life Counselors who receive the same training and have the same expectations as permanent full time Student Life Counselors.
