Course Description
This is a 19 week course, beginning January 14th and ending May 30th. Lessons are generally designed for the ninth and tenth grader.
Course will begin with pre-assessments to gather information about the student’s prior knowledge so content may be designed to meet student needs. Activities and timelines will correspond with the student’s pace. The course will begin with an introduction to the language of Mathematics which will include learning about specific terminology used in math. Emphasis will be placed on developing an understanding of math vocabulary. Though this is a math course, reading, writing, science, and communication goals will be integrated.
Washington State Grade Level Expectations (GLE’s) for the 9th/10th Grader:
Math
1.1.7 Understand and apply strategies and tools to complete tasks involving computation on rational numbers.
1.2.2 Understand the differences between non-standard and standard units of measurement for length and weight/mass in either U.S. or metric systems.
1.2.3 Understand how measurement units of length (U.S.) and capacity (U.S.) are organized into systems.
